I have had the opportunity to photograph the Martinsburg Roundhouse twice recently. It is a unique early railroad structure, one of the few totally covered turntables still in existence and the ONLY roundhouse of its type in the world with a cast iron structural frame. Trying to convey the feel of the structure is difficult and the perspective with super wide lenses is interesting – actually two photos merged together. I also have enhanced the color a bit to show off the interesting geometric pattern inside the roof. Oh, I was lying down when a took this series of photos and those are my feet at the bottom of the frame. The Roundhouse is open to the public on a limited basis and more information can be found at Martinsburg Roundhouse.
