Yesterday, spotted the Warrior pulled up on the flats of St. Helena Island, SC. I took a quick series of photos and intend to return and do a more extensive study. It is always sad to see the end of these classic commercial fishing boats!

Guy and Girl from the Band – Photos for Nov. 9
I took this series of photos about a year ago. There was a band playing on River Street in Savannah, GA and were asking for donations from those taking photographs, a little different approach. I had a great time taking photographs and donated a couple of dollars to the cause. Unfortunately they were in the shade with some serious backlighting. I had to do a little editing and below am attaching both the color and black and white version of two photos. I find often in these cases that black and white is more forgiving than color.
Edinburgh Castle No. 1 Panoramic – Photo for Nov. 8
Edinburgh Castle is a great photographic subject. I took several series of photos to stitch together later into panoramic photographs. This one was taken with my infrared camera.
Clouds Meet Water, Hilton Head Island Infrared – Photo for Nov. 7
I have done several series of photos of what I call “From the Edge”, or in effect where land meets the water on our beach on Hilton Head Island. At low tide our beach and flats extend out several hundred yards beyond the high tide level on the beach. I find walking out into this in between space very interesting and has great potential photographically, particularly as interpreted via digital infrared.
Shrimp Boats, Darien, GA – Photo for Nov. 6
The shrimp boats docked at Darien offer a fine photographic setting. I am looking forward to returning there this winter to photograph both the boats and the town itself.
Beach Infrared, Self Portrait – Photo for Nov. 5
I took a series of photos on our beach on Hilton Head Island in January 2010. I enjoyed working with the snow fences that were put up to contain the winter blowing sands, not snow…
Cobia, Brunswick, GA, No. 1 – Photo for Nov. 4
The Cobia is a small commercial fishing boat that I photographed in 2010. Since than it has been totally scrapped. It is always sad to see old boats in this condition. They were once new and cherished helping provide someone with their livelihood in good weather and bad. Now they are old and grounded awaiting dismemberment.
Hunting Island, Trees No. 1 in Black and White – Photo for Nov. 3
The beach at Hunting Island State Park is very dynamic with a shifting shoreline. One area in particular has a large number of trees which have fallen into the ocean as the shoreline has eroded. This area is like a huge outdoor sculpture.
Hunting Island, Lone Tree No. 1 – Photo for Nov. 2
Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina, is a wonderful place to take pictures. This one was taken last spring and is the first one of a series I am working at refining.
Gettysburg Cyclorama Infrared Photo – Photo for Nov. 1
This photo is the first in a year long series of photographs from both my files and current works. I intend to post one new quality photograph everyday for a year. This first entry was taken October 1, 2011 in Gettysburg, PA.
