Fort Pickens, February 2
My study of Fort Pickens Casements began on February 2. I intend to publish this later as a slide show, but right now will just post a single photo until I figure out some new software for slide shows.
Fort Pickens, Pensacola Beach, Florida
Fort Pickens is one of those massive masonry fortresses built for coastal defense prior to our Civil War. Most of the fortress and its 21,500,000 bricks have survived a war, a massive accidental explosion and numerous hurricanes. My visit extended over three days when the weather was less than ideal, punctuated by periods of rain and heavy fog. Because of these conditions, I spent most of my time photographing the gun casements and bastions. They were in most cases dark, damp and cold, but fascinating. The brickwork with the interlocking massive arches is fantastic!

Gettysburg Cyclorama, Ultimate Vandalism – Photo For August 23
Now there is just a sidewalk going nowhere, once there was a unique structure here designed by one of the great architects of the 20th century. But it was legally vandalized into nothing.

Civil War Reenactors No. 4 – Photo For August 4
I wanted to post one small group photo. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to post another Hilton Head Island photo tomorrow
Civil War Reenactor No. 3 – Photo For August 3
I had been meaning to get back to this series that I took in late June at an event leading up to the anniversary of the Battle Of Gettysburg.
Union Mills, Civil War Reenactor No. 2 – Photo For June 30
I am going to continue to play with the photos I took yesterday of the Civil War reenactors. This one I vignetted the edges and added a sepia tone, it is sort of a vintage look while maintaining good contrast and crisp detail.
