This is another Steamtown photo, taken from overhead walkway that leads to the Mall at Steamtown from the National Historic Site. This allows you to photograph lots of things from a raised level, including trains passing underneath, both Steamtown excursions and commercial traffic.

Spent the day yesterday cooking over a wood fire for about two hundred guys.

Nikon D800 with auto focus zoom lens – really needed the auto focus on this one, was reaching in through an open window with camera in one hand and framing with live view.

Over a year ago I started the 365 -366 Project, and then life got a little crazy and I gave it up. Well, life is still crazy, but wanted to start back on this creative path!
Photography is about light, so the first photo is of a railroad, steam, engine headlight. The reflections symbolize what I will strive to achieve, a varied view of what I see and photograph. And one of the reflections is the photographer taking the photo.
Photograph taken with a Nikon D800 with a classic Nikkor 50mm – f1.4 lens (yes, it is manual focus – interesting). Location is Steamtown National Historic Site, two days ago.

Headlight, Steamtown National Historic Site
Several years ago I photographed the canal house in White Mills, PA, on the Delaware and Hudson Canal, just before restoration work was to begin. The photos were taken with a modified 4×5 Graflex View Camera and a wide angle lens. Below is a slide show of four of the five photos I took of the inside of the structure.

This past winter, I revisited the cemetery in Key West and took another series of digital infrared photos. This time a used a converted Nikon D70 and here is my favorite scene from this series.

Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia is a treasure for photographers. Here I have posted a series of three photographs as a slide show. These are High Dynamic Range photos, a series of photographs of a scene bracketed and combined in the computer using software designed for this purpose.

This is a fascinating old house at lock 31 of the Delaware and Hudson Canal. It is owned by the Wayne County Historical Society. Click on the arrow in the photo to see some interior photographs of the house I took several years ago.
