Joe and Miss Brenda Joyce – Photo(s) for Dec. 4
The third member of the crew of the Miss Brenda Joyce is pictured here. Joe is working below deck shoveling ice and getting the boat ready to go shrimping. And the second photo is the crew taking a break before leaving the dock.
Miss Brenda Joyce – Photo for Dec. 3
The story of Steve Tate who has been the subject of the last few posts would not be complete without a photo of the Miss Brenda Joyce. She is a classic shrimp boat and I hope as I am typing this, she is out catching lots of shrimp.
Steve Tate, Delivering One of His Poems – Photo (Video) for Dec. 2
Steve Tate is a poet who performs his own work. I met him while taking pictures of shrimp boats in Brunswick, GA. – please see two previous posts. Steve was preparing the boat he works on to go out shrimping, thus the engine sound and activity in the background. In between work and getting his picture taken, I was entertained by his wonderful, thoughtful and at times colorful verses.
I hope you enjoy this video, my first posted attempt, and pass it on to friends as I intend to do during this holiday season. Steve when not out fishing resides in Bath, NC and is looking for a literary agent. This material is copyrighted.
Captain Henry of the Miss Brenda Joyce – Photo for Dec. 1
Captain Henry was very generous in letting me come aboard and photograph the crew and Miss Brenda Joyce. Henry and Steve Tate from the last post are old friends and enjoy working together.
Steve Tate, Poet – Photo for Nov. 30
I intend to post more of Steve Tate. I met him this morning on a shrimp boat in Brunswick, GA. We visited as he and the crew worked at getting ready to go shrimping. I think Steve is a very good poet, who has a gift for delivering his thoughtful verses and entertained me with several original works.
Spinner Camera First Go Around – Photo for Nov. 18
This little camera I think will be a lot of fun and wanted to share a couple of the first photos I took with it.
You have to work a little on technique, watch you hand, your hat and make sure you get it to go all the way around.
This photo of Shrimp Boats in Brunswick, Ga shows actually a little over 360 degrees. Still have to work on composition…
Cobia, Brunswick, GA, No. 1 – Photo for Nov. 4
The Cobia is a small commercial fishing boat that I photographed in 2010. Since than it has been totally scrapped. It is always sad to see old boats in this condition. They were once new and cherished helping provide someone with their livelihood in good weather and bad. Now they are old and grounded awaiting dismemberment.
The Cobia at Brunswick, GA
The wreck of the Cobia is part of a deserted piece of waterfront in Brunswick, Georgia. It is representative of the decline of the local shrimp boat fleet.
