Red From Stock Island – Photo for Nov. 20
I don’t believe I ever posted a photo of Red on any of my sites. Red is one of my shrimp boat friends on Stock Island in the Florida Keys. When this photo was taken, he was captaining one of the boats of this ever shrinking fleet.
Sonny, Hagerstown, MD – Photo for Nov. 16
Sonny Barnes was, according to my conversation with him, a WW II veteran with the 82nd Airborne. When I met him and took this photo, he apparently was sleeping in an old passenger car in downtown Hagerstown, Maryland. This was in 1970. I often wonder what happened to Sonny. Will post more photos of Sonny someday when I rescan this series of negatives and clean them up a bit.
Guy and Girl from the Band – Photos for Nov. 9
I took this series of photos about a year ago. There was a band playing on River Street in Savannah, GA and were asking for donations from those taking photographs, a little different approach. I had a great time taking photographs and donated a couple of dollars to the cause. Unfortunately they were in the shade with some serious backlighting. I had to do a little editing and below am attaching both the color and black and white version of two photos. I find often in these cases that black and white is more forgiving than color.
First Photos from Florida Keys Shrimp Boats
These photos are from the first year I took photos of the shrimp boats in the Florida Keys. Since these photos were taken in 2007, most of the boats pictured here have either been scrapped, about to be scrapped or wrecked.
Charlie No. 1, Key West, Slide Show
I photographed Charlie this morning, and as I did, had a wonderful discussion about how happy he was sitting in the sun on a lovely day in the Florida Keys. In fact he related that he is happy every day and wonders why more people are not happy…
This is the first slide show I have produced with Adobe Lightroom converted to a video.
